Nathan H. Endicott was apparently involved in maritime commerce in Massachusetts during the early 19th century. He kept logs of travels to Sumatra, and Archangel, Russia.

Scope and Contents

This is a 280-page Seaman's Journal inscribed with 169 pages of handwritten notes regarding weather conditions, location, course, and events on board the ships Janus, Dawn and Glide on three separate voyages. The first voyage was on the Janus from Salem, Massachusetts to Sumatra with a cargo of pepper on the return trip. The second was onboard the Dawn from Salem, Massachusetts to Archangel, Russia, and the third was onboard the Glide from Archangel, Russia to Salem, Massachusetts.
