  • Beige Book
    Contains separate reports and a summary of anecdotal information about current economic conditions gathered from each of the twelve Federal Reserve Districts. Published eight times per year. Also includes an archive.

     

    Business and Nonprofits
    Conduct business online with the U.S. Government including filing taxes and wage reports, obtaining an export license or a state license, and obtaining or verifying an employer ID number or employee's Social Security number. Also includes business-related guides.

County Business Patterns
Provides data on the total number of establishments, Mid-March employment, first quarter and annual payroll, and number of establishments by nine employment-size classes by detailed industry for all counties in the United States and the District of Columbia. This database together with Metro Business Patterns and ZIP Code Business Patterns (also linked on the County Business Patterns page) covers most of the economic activity in the U.S.

    Data base from The University of Virginia's Geospatial and Statistical Center which provides U.S. Census Bureau county, state, and national level business data from 1977 to the most recent year available.

    Includes links for small businesses, U.S. exporters, international buyers, lenders, and news media.

  • Federal Business Opportunities
    (formerly Commerce Business Daily) Known alternately as FedBizOpps.GOV and FBO.gov. Serves as a one-stop virtual marketplace to connect commercial vendors and the entire Federal contracting community.  Allows participants to post, search, monitor, and retrieve commercial exchanges.

    • BEA Regional Economic Accounts
      Economic data for states and cities from the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis. Also includes specialized data such as for Hurricane Katrina. Uses the Regional Input-Output Modeling System (RIMS II).

       

      Consumer Expenditure Survey
      Presents two surveys, the the quarterly Interview Survey and the Diary Survey. Provides information on the buying habits of American consumers. Includes data on their expenditures, income, and consumer unit (families and single consumers) characteristics provided by the U.S. Census Bureau's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
