Observations:

Several numbers indicate more positive impressions of the library's collections: the overall satisfaction level rose from 2.89 in November 2006 to 3.29 in November 2007. Our goal was to increase this number to at least 3.5.

The impression of the online journal collection improved by a similar value (2.96 to 3.46) as did that of the book collection (2.7 to 3.38). The respondents seem to feel most pleased about need for reduced physical visits to the Texas Medical Center Library (only 2 respondents chose a 3 or higher for how frequently they have had to visit the TMC library in person). On the other hand, a slight decrease in satisfaction with using ILL may indicate an erosion of tolerance for any materials not being instantly available online.

Finally, respondents provided a list of 21 journal titles they would like to see added to Fondren's online collection - of these, four (4) are actually already available to you now. Please check with your subject librarian to be sure that you are making best use of the resources available to you. Survey participants also provided a number of comments, which are also being analyzed.

Immediate actions being taken (November 2007):

Two of the journals mentioned by survey respondents recently have been ordered and should become available for use by January 2008: Stem Cells and Nature Protocols.

Additional funds have been allocated in support of biomedicine, cognition/neuroscience, etc. The titles suggested by survey respondants will be reviewed and additional orders will be forthcoming.
