Virtual Machines and Research Data Storage at Rice

Learn how to use two new components of Rice’s Research Computing infrastructure:

1) The networked storage provided by the new Isilon (researchers receive 500GB for free and can scale from there) and other Research Data Facility resources, and

2) The Virtual Machine farm, ORION, recently up and running on the Rice network.

These two tools allow researchers to affordably spin up computing resources as needed for classes or projects, and they can be used in tandem to powerful effect. We will show researchers how to register and walk them through use cases.
