Databases
- Fondren Library has over 300 hundred online databases, which include those providing access to full-text journal articles as well as bibliographic indices and digital collections on all areas of study.
- A full listing of our indexes and databases is available under the "Indexes & Databases" heading in the Research section of the website. To narrow down the search to only those databases likely to contain information on your topic, consult the Research Guide for your particular subject area.
Full-text Journals
Overview Full-text Journals: Fondren Library is a modern research library with over 2 million volumes, 2.9 million microforms, and 33,200 current serials and periodicals. The scope of Fondren Library's collection is broad with excellent coverage in art, architecture, history, literature, music, philosophy, languages, economics, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering.
Searching for Articles
- The Fondren Library Catalog does not contain articles. To search for articles, use an online database such as those listed under Indexes to Journal Articles
page.
- When
searching for articles, there are many databases and print resources
from which to choose. Many of these have different structures and
features. For help with selecting and using an online database or print

Electronic Text - online text collections
- Electronic versions (either page images or digitized) of printed texts, these can be viewed, searched and downloaded.
- Find electronic texts by perfoming a search in our catalog or by viewing the lists of electronic texts .
- Electronic texts can be accessed from any computer inside Fondren Library.
- Access for the Rice Community is available from any computer on campus or via remote login.

- Research Guides are brief introductions to the specialized resources available for certain disciplines. These Guides include electronic resources, print, CD-ROM and microform titles.
- Research Guides provide students with information on where to start their research in a particular discipline.
