Our commitment to you, our library users, is to:
- Provide courteous, responsive, respectful, and knowledgeable service.
- Provide the fullest possible service at all times, within the constaints of available resources.
- Provide materials and information resources appropriate to your needs.
- Publicize in various ways our range of services, library regulations and hours, and keep you informed of any changes to these.
- Provide you with the means to submit comments and suggestions and undertake regular surveys of your opinions.
- Train the library staff to ensure that our customer service is ongoing and is of the highest quality.
- Provide the same quality of service to all regardless of age, race, sex, nationality, educational background, physical limitations, or any other criteria, (Please note that some specific services are available only to the Rice community.)

Fondren Library Mission Statement
The mission of the Fondren Library of Rice University is to support the instructional, research, and public service programs of the University, including its strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; to the advancement of literature, science, and art; and to the pursuit of excellence in all activities. The collections and services of the Fondren Library are based on the philosophy that a library is more than a collection of books; it is an essential campus resource with knowledgeable staff and evolving information technologies where emerging and established scholars acquire information and gather in an atmosphere conducive to learning and other creative endeavors.
