Tableau Public III: Learning Tableau with Projects

Want to have more practices with Tableau? Come to this project-based course, where you could sharpen your Tableau skills. You will use the provided data files to answer a few questions. Your solutions could be a single-page viz or a multi-page data story. You will need to use the skills taught in the previous Tableau workshops to complete the projects, with guidance and help from the instructor along the way.

Tableau Public II: Intermediate

This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Merge data from different data sheets/datasets
  • Create parameters and calculated fields
  • Understand differences between table calculation and regular calculation
  • Use quick table calculations
  • Create regular calculations on number, string, and date
  • Add analytics objects such as reference line to the view

Intro to Graphics

This workshop serves as a basic introduction to graphics terminology and meaning. Participants will learn the difference between vector and raster graphics and how to use them appropriately in their projects. Participants will also be given brief introduction to the different graphics programs from freeware to commercial options.

Introduction to Audacity

This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of using Audacity to record and edit audio. The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Setting up a project and getting familiar with the interface
  • Importing audio files
  • Recording audio files
  • Using the editing tools
  • Using basic effects and corrections
  • Exporting a final audio file

Video Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro (Adobe Creative Cloud)

This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of using Adobe Premiere Pro CC to edit video. The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Setting up a project and getting familiar with the interface
  • Importing and organizing media
  • Using the timeline editing tools
  • Adding transitions, graphics, text, and generated media
  • Using basic effects and color correction
  • Normalizing audio
  • Exporting a final product

Blender 3D basic animation and rendering

This short course covers basic animation in rendering in Blender. At the end of the course, participants should be able to do very basic keyframe animation and render out a scene. This course is intended to help students create graphics or video for their presentations. Topic covered in this short course are:

  • mixing and applying materials (shaders)
  • Setting the correct texture coordinates
  • very basic UV unwrapping 
  • setting keyframes
  • ​output the final video
