Advanced Zotero: Read, Annotate, Take Notes, and Draft/Outline Research

Prerequisites:

Introduction to Zotero: Collect, Organize, and Cite Research

Zotero now includes a built-in PDF reader and a robust note editor, making it a powerful all-in-one tool for your entire research workflow—reading, annotating, note-taking, drafting, and outlining.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • Using Zotero’s built-in reader to highlight and annotate PDFs, webpages, and eBooks
  • Adding annotations to Zotero notes with automatic citation links
  • Citing other Zotero items directly within your notes
  • Inserting notes into Word documents with active Zotero citations
  • Using the standalone note editor in a separate window for drafting or outlining your work
