Advanced Zotero: Read, Annotate, Take Notes, and Draft/Outline Research

Prerequisites:

Introduction to Zotero: Collect, Organize, and Cite Research

Zotero has a built-in reader and a powerful note editor. This means you can use it in your whole research workflow of reading, annotating, note-taking, and drafting/outlining. You can use it as your all-in-one research application!

Specifically, the following topics will be covered:

  • how to use Zotero’s built-in reader to mark up PDFs, webpages, and ebooks in EPUB format with highlights, notes, and image annotations
  • how to add annotations to Zotero notes with automatic citations
  • how to cite other items directly in notes
  • how to insert notes into your Word documents with active Zotero citations
  • how to use the standalone note editor in a separate window for drafting/outlining
