Fondren Library Kelley Center for Government Information offers this one-hour hands on training workshop in partnership with the Center for Civic Leadership (CCL), which will be hosted at Fondren Library.

About the workshop

This workshop explores the role of media in shaping public perception and civic engagement. Participants will learn how to critically evaluate news sources, recognize bias and fake news, and understand our own impact through social media interactions.

Objectives:

  • Develop critical thinking skills for assessing the credibility of news sources.
  • Identify bias and fake news in public media and personal social media engagement.
  • Apply media evaluation tools to real-world examples.

Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to critically analyze news content, recognize and mitigate bias and fake news, and make informed decisions about consuming and sharing media.
