Crossing from life into death happens to us all, so naturally, the US government is involved in the regulation of that passage. However, although Halloween (the holiday that stands at the crossroads of that adventure) is not an official US holiday, it is so much of our culture since our very founding that our government, as well as our people, indulges in its celebration. Houston also, despite the legacy of Ronald Clark O'Bryan, continues to celebrate Halloween in new and superior ways each year, as does Fondren Library.
