The AI Reality Check for Academic Success: Evaluating AI Outputs For Your Research

This is part 3 of a three-session series "Research Smarter: A Toolkit for the Information Age."

Effective research is no longer just about finding articles; it is about navigating a complex ecosystem of data, media, and algorithms. In this series, we build your research toolkit from the ground up. We begin by mastering professional library resources and search strategies, then move into critical techniques for verifying data and spotting misinformation in the wild. Finally, we apply these skills to the newest frontier—Generative AI—teaching you how to evaluate machine-generated content with the same rigor you apply to human sources.

In this course, using real-world case studies, you will learn:

GenAI inherently produces errors and misinformation

Construct effective prompts to improve the quality and accuracy of AI outputs for research tasks.

Critically evaluate AI outputs against its cited sources, broader consensus (cross-references with regulation, scientific evidence, clinical guidelines), and contexts.
