Patent Process Basics

Scope

Primarily focuses on an overview of patent and patent application basics and the contents of a utility patent. Also includes a live demo of an introduction to Patent Center, the website used for filing and tracking patent applications available through the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Audience

  • Independent inventors/entrepreneurs in the community. This course is free and open to the public!
  • Rice students, staff and faculty.

Registration

Advance registration is required. If you need to cancel your reservation, please send an email to govhelp@rice.edu, so people on the waiting list can take the class.

  • It is your responsibility to notify the instructor if you will no longer be able to attend.
  • If you miss a course without notifying staff by the day of the course, your registration for all future courses will be canceled.
  • This course is taught every eight weeks, so if you cannot make it to the current session, wait and register for the next one.

  • There is no charge.
