Strategic Priority 3: Improve Library Spaces to Power Learning, Research, and Collaboration
Fondren Library is currently refreshing the North Reading Room with new carpeting and other modest improvements that preserve one of the library's signature public spaces. The next phase will be guided by conversations with students to understand how the space can best support today's learning and research needs. Future philanthropic support will complete the transformation through furnishings and infrastructure such as study tables, seating, lighting, electrical access, and related improvements. Rather than simply replacing furniture, this project represents an opportunity to shape one of the library's most heavily used learning environments for the next generation of Rice students and scholars.
