About

Lauren DuBois is a Metadata Analyst at Fondren Library. After a brief stint as a pre-k/kindergarten teacher, she spent most of her career in financial consulting before finding her calling in library science. In June 2021, Lauren graduated with her MLIS and started as the Metadata Assistant for a rare books project at Fondren Library, which evolved into a Special Collections Librarian position the following summer. In June 2023, she transitioned into the role of Metadata Analyst, fulfilling a personal goal since graduation.

In addition to her professional duties, Lauren shares her expertise by teaching a library science class about information organization at UNT. What sets Lauren apart is her diverse career background and unwavering enthusiasm for metadata and information organization (and cats). From the StrengthsFinder 2.0 personal development analysis, her “Top 5” themes are: Input, Consistency, Strategic, Maximizer, and Intellection.

In her free time, Lauren works with a neighborhood TNR group to care for cats in the local community. Volunteering as a rotating editor for emilytakesnotes.com and contributing to an unofficial Houston "progressive voter guide" are other ways she engages in her community. In these roles, Lauren embraces the opportunity to collaborate with local volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including lawyers, authors, government employees, and fellow librarians.
