Putting it all Together: Example Workflows using Rice's Research Computing and Data Services

Prerequisites:

None, though knowledge of the Center for Research Computing's services or previous Research Computing workshops would be helpful.

Overview:

Come to this workshop to learn how to productively combine Rice's research computing and data storage offerings to support your research.  We will demonstrate how to process your data on our computing systems and how to move data between those systems and our data storage platforms.

Topics include:

  • Processing data on the NOTS cluster, on the RAPID cluster, and on an ORION Virtual Machine
  • Storing data on Rice's Research Data Facility (RDF) and on the Open Storage Network (OSN)
  • Moving data to, from, and between all of the above services
  • Using data-moving tools such as:  scp, GLOBUS, Cyberduck, boto3 python library, rclone, etc.
