Strategic Priority 5: Empower Library Staff
Artificial intelligence offers extraordinary opportunities for discovery while also raising important questions about sustainability, ethics, energy consumption, and environmental responsibility. This project creates a cross-campus learning community where students, faculty, librarians, and researchers explore both AI's promise and its environmental impact. Through guest speakers, collaborative discussions, and shared learning, participants will develop practical strategies for using AI responsibly while advancing Rice University's commitments to sustainability, innovation, and ethical leadership. Donor support will position Fondren Library as a campus leader in one of the defining conversations shaping higher education today.
