In support of Rice’s commitment to responsible AI, Fondren Library provides training, tools, and consultations to Rice faculty, students and staff in using AI for research, teaching and learning. With extensive experience in information management and ethics, library staff bring a commitment to applying professional values to AI and developing core competencies in AI. We partner with the Center for Research Computing to provide training and consultations on using AI, research data, and computational methods to support research and teaching.

    • Demystifying Generative AI: Facilitating artificial intelligence literacy through video microtutorials

    • Implementing a Decision-making Framework for Using AI in Teaching
  • Fondren Library is a signatory to the Statement of Shared Practice, which offers guidance on large scale AI partnerships around archival collections 
  • Fondren staff are participating in the 2026 Ithaka AI Literacy cohort
