Brown Fine Arts Library

Body

Welcome to the Brown Fine Arts Library,
located on the third floor of Fondren Library!

The Brown Fine Arts stacks hold scores, books, and periodicals dedicated to the study of art history and practice, architecture, and music performance and history. Many more print materials are stored offsite at the Library Service Center (LSC). Current print periodicals (journals, magazines, serials) are in the cubbies along the walls of the open study space. Older issues are in the stacks or may be offsite at the LSC. Many of our journals are also available online! New books and scores are on New Books shelves.

There is a dedicated AV Studio available to reserve with an electric keyboard and bench, a turntable, and a CD/DVD player and screen. Room may be reserved more than 3 days in advance or through the room reservation system

Rare and oversized materials are generally kept offsite or in the Woodson Research Center (1st floor). Rice affiliates can request items using the Request It button in the catalog; visitors can use the LSC Request form. Oversize music scores are onsite near the study tables, in front of the Art & Architecture Librarian's office (331).

Streaming video is provided by a variety of streaming platforms listed here, including Kanopy. Search for individual titles in the library catalog or on the streaming service website. DVDs on art, architecture, and music are located in the Fondren DVD collection on the 1st floor; DVD players are available for checkout at the Service Desk.
